At [Company] , we take pride in our appearance. We want to look as professional and well-kempt as possible, but this becomes more difficult when our employers refuse to give us new uniforms and require us to wear the old, outdated versions. Our staff are customers’ first point of contact with [Company] . We are trained to present a courteous and professional image, but this is undermined when our uniforms are worn and out-of-date. This reflects poorly on both staff and management for a number of reasons.
Further, we are only issued one uniform at the time of hiring, which means we’re forced to do laundry daily or wear a dirty uniform. This places a large burden on us as employees, as we have families, school, and other responsibilities to attend to outside of our scheduled shifts. This one uniform policy also means that employees who’ve been working at [Company] for a long time have uniforms that are worn, faded, and have stains or holes. This isn’t the fault of employees; it’s unreasonable to expect employees to wear the same clothing everyday and have it not show wear.
In order to look and feel as professional, presentable, and clean as possible, we at [Company] must have new uniforms company-wide. We cannot be our best selves and do our best work while continuing to wear such old and outdated work-mandated attire.
